The Rare Alaskan Hummingbear
I was just about to begin final revisions to Part 3, Chapter 1 of Nor Things to Come: A Novel of the West, when curious events distracted me. We have made significantly more feeder nectar this year than last, but had assumed a bumper crop of hummingbirds was the reason. I had actually estimated between 15 and 20 birds based on the vast quantities of nectar consumed by the little hummers. It turns out that I may have used false data for my calculation. Call me chicken, but I will wait at least an hour before refilling the feeders.
