My first novel, Toil Under the Sun,
recently received a terrific review from Kirkus. You can find the link to the review below. Because Toil
Under the Sun is a self-published book, this review is truly
significant. First, Kirkus advertises themselves as "The World's Toughest
Book Critics." Second, David Carnoy states the following in an article
published on cnet.com titled Self-Publishing a Book: 25 Things You Need to
Know: "Because the barrier to entry is so low, the majority of
self-published books are pretty bad. If I had to put a number on it, I'd say
less than 5 percent are decent and less than 1 percent are really good."
And third, I now have independent confirmation that I am not wasting my time on
my current book, Nor Things
to Come: A Novel of the West. I plan to dive back into Chapter 4 of
Part 2 today...right after I replace the shower head in the downstairs
bathroom.
